What Can Wash Away My Sins? Nothing But the Blood of Jesus!

1 Peter 1:18-19

“Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

Dear friend, here are the first two things we want to mention about the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ that dripped down Calvary’s Cross 2000 years ago. One, His blood has an inestimable value and two His blood also has an inexpressible virtue.

His blood has an inestimable value because it has the power to save every persons soul who has lived on this earth from the beginning of time till today! It’s power can save a persons soul from a bubbling, boiling, burning, blistering, baking, eternal hellfire, and give them a home in heaven! But also it’s power can change a persons life on earth and keep them sober, honest, faithful, law-abiding, and filled with the love, joy, hope, and peace of the Holy Spirit.

His blood also has an inexpressible virtue because it is perfect without sin or blemish. Without His perfect blood covering our guilty sin stained lives not one of us would have the hope of heaven!

The Sacred Blood of Christ

Acts 20:28

“Take heed, therefore, unto yourselves, and to all the flock over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”

Jesus of course had a human body just like all people have, but the blood that flowed through His veins was not like our blood. He was the Son of God and His blood came from His Father. If not He would have had the sinful blood of Adam coursing through His veins The reason Jesus had to be born of a virgin is because the blood type of a baby is determined by the father not the mother. No sinner, Mary or Joseph, had a part in Jesus being conceived but it was the Spirit of God that impregnated the virgin, and Jesus had a supernatural conception!

The Shed Blood of Jesus

Leviticus 17:11

“For the life of the flesh is in the blood; and I have given it to you upon the alter to make an atonement for your souls for it is the blood that maketh atonement for the soul.”

Jesus said, “No man taketh my life from me. I lay it down of myself. I have the power to lay it down, I have the power to take it up. This commandment have I received of my Father.” (John 10:18) The blood of Jesus was not spilt blood but shed blood! Jesus did not die as a martyr but as a willing substitute. Jesus was obedient to His Father in that His blood would make atonement for my sin, your sin, and also the sin of the whole world! “…..and without shedding of blood is no remission.” (Hebrews 9:22) Only the sacred, shed, blood of Jesus can make a sinner whole.!

All the little lambs that were without blemish or spot who’s blood stained the Old Testament alters were pictures and types of the coming Lamb of God. The shed blood of Jesus Christ is not a way to heaven or even the best way to heaven, but the only way to heaven! As the old hymn goes, “My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus blood and righteousness” Are you washed in the blood?

try to hide the blood.

The Saving Blood of Christ

1 Corinthians 15:3

“For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ

shall all be made alive”

A Sunday School teacher asked a little girl, “Is there anything God cannot do?” She said, “Yes, there is one thing God cannot do, He cannot see my sin through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ!” “This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Jesus Christ came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” (1 Timothy 1:15) Have you trusted by faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Savior, Jesus Christ? Jesus is the gift of God!

The Shared Blood of Christ

John 6:53

“Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of Man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.”

When Jesus made this statement those around Him were so offended that they began to scatter and forsake him. The Jewish people had been taught in the Old Testament to never eat or drink blood. But He was not talking about eating His literal flesh or drinking His literal blood. Jesus was speaking symbolically and using spiritual language.

You see God created both the physical world and the spiritual world. The physical world is an image of the spiritual world so we can understand the spiritual. For examples, Jesus used the imagery of nature (Matthew 6:25-34) and Paul used imagery of the Roman soldier (Ephesians 6:11-17) to explain spiritual things. What Jesus simply says is, let my life be in you because I am to your spirit what blood is to your body! He is speaking about letting Him live His supernatural life through us!

The Shared Blood And It’s Constant Provisions

Our bodies live at the mercy of our blood systems. The blood system is constantly providing every cell in our bodies with nourishment. If the blood in the body is sick then it will lead to disease. Amazingly one of the most commonly accepted medical facts is that “the life of the flesh is in the blood”. You know who wrote this statement? It sure wasn’t Dr. Harry Snufflenose of Harvard School of Medicine but Moses from the School of God. (Leviticus 17:14).

So how would Moses know the life of the flesh is in the blood 4000 years ago without any medical instruments or modern technology? It was of course that God’s Spirit spoke through him.

Our body lives at the mercy of our blood. Trillions of red cells run through every blood vessel carrying life giving nourishment the body needs like oxygen, nitrogen, sodium, calcium, hormones, and many other nutrients. The red cells are like tiny life giving boats. You could live a while without food or water but not without the oxygen the red cells provide.

Just as our blood is a red river of life to our physical bodies Jesus is saying to His body, the church, that we must have His victorious blood flowing spiritually through us! Jesus gave Himself for us that He might give Himself to us! The reason a Christian may be living a failed Christian life is they are not relying on the constant provisions of His victorious life giving blood! Many do not understand that His life is in us!

It is this simple, if we are not living in virtue and glory in Christ, then we are not appropriating the provisions God has given us! “According to his divine power hath given us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue.” (2 Peter 1:3) We have His divine power flowing through us and it is a red river of sacred, shed, saving, and shared blood of the Lord Jesus Christ! Of course if you have never trusted Jesus as your Savior then you are dead in your sins and have no spiritual power or life. We pray the Spirt of God will convict you of your need of Christ and the Father will regenerate your heart and you will be saved today!

They pick up the uric acid and carbon dioxide to be expelled by the kidneys and lungs. It’s almost like the ice cream truck coming and the garbage truck leaving! No wonder the Bible says, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made”. My friend the demonic made up theory of evolution did not create man. It was Almighty God that created man in His own image, “yea, let God be true, but every man a liar”

The shared blood of Christ constantly provides our body with the things it needs but also takes away the things our body does not need! “But if we walk in the light, we have fellowship one with another and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son cleanseth us from all sin.” (1 John 1:7).

I am not a doctor. (I had to beg my teachers to pass me out of high school) so all this medical knowledge comes from a little book called “In His Image” by Doctor Paul Bland a great surgeon and wonderful Christian. You will love it so get his book!

Notice 1 John 1:7 says, “if we walk in the light”. As believers if we do not walk in the light, toxins will begin to build up in the blood stream. Like when the doctor checks your blood pressure and the longer the cup is on your arm, more and more pain will set in. Why? Because the cleansing blood in your physical body is not flowing through your arm! Many Christians in these last days are living in spiritual pain because they have so many toxins built up in their lives, worry, envy, jealousy, fear, pride, bitterness and doubt. Remember: It is the blood that cleanseth us from toxin in our physical body and from sin in our spiritual life!

The great old hymn, There Is Power In The Blood says, “Would you be free from your burden of sin? There’s power in the blood, power in the blood, would you over evil a victory win? There’s wonderful power in the blood.”

The Shared Blood And It’s Conquering Power

The greatest enemy of mankind is not the climate, wild beasts, or war, but bacteria and viruses. In 1348 the Black Plague hit Europe. About a million visitors had come to Rome and many became infected. This plague spread and killed one-third of the people of Europe. When bacteria invades the body the blood declares war on them. Dr. Brand says it is the white cells, over 25 billion of them that attack the bacteria. There are five distinct white cells that arm up in battle units like in the military to destroy the invader. Some are snipers, tanks, aircraft, or militia like shock troops that overwhelm the invaders.

These white cells can even multiply 10 times over! They rush to the scene of the injury or cut. This is why the skin turns red because of all the cells that are attacking the bacteria in one place.

Smallpox was a devastating disease. When Cortez the explorer came and visited the Aztec Indians, he left behind one soldier with smallpox. Tragically in two years over four million of the Aztecs died because they had no antibodies. The cells had no idea what this strange disease was? Then a Dr Jenner had the idea of taking a weakened form of a disease and putting it into the human body. This enabled the white cells to understand who the enemy was and mobilize their army to kill it. Smallpox has almost been wiped out! You know what they call the blood cells that have this disease? Wise Blood!

When a person is immunized they will have wise blood. When someone is born again by faith in Jesus Christ they have the spiritual blood of Jesus and it is Wise Blood! Anything Jesus has overcome you can too! He said, “These things I have spoken unto you that ye might have peace; in the world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb,….Revelation 12:11a.

It is said that Napoleon after his defeat at the hands of the British at Waterloo was in the chartroom with his generals looking at a map of the world. He pointed at the British Isles that were colored in bright red and said, “Had it not been for that red spot, I could have conquered the world.” My friend I am sure the Devil, the old serpent, the deceiver, the king of death, the great dragon, Satan himself, also looks back at Mount Calvary where the old rugged cross stood and sees the scarlet red blood at the foot of it and says to himself, “Had it not been for that red spot, I could have conquered the world.”

Jesus said, “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63) The Lord’s words are life giving. They give spiritual life because they are spirit. But also they quicken and make alive a new spiritual man. It is His Spirit in the human spirit that imparts eternal life. My friend will you ask Jesus to save you? Pray to Him right now!

Dear Jesus, I know I am a lost sinner. I ask You by faith to forgive me and be my Saviour.
